about

On another daily grinding drive to work, Nicholas smashes his fist on the dashboard in frustration, revealing a button he'd never seen before. Pushing it, he discovers his car can fly...

===================================

I made this album entirely myself, with the sole (and very important) exception of the guitar work by Amirabbas Amiri. I met Amir years back on a Kevin Moore fan site, and we've worked together before. I knew when I decided on this project he'd be perfect for it. And man, was he ever.

This was daunting at first. I have a 10 year old computer still running XP. I bought Mixcraft 6 and mixed everything in there. After a great Christmas, I finally got a good mic and preamp to do vocals right.

I began in earnest around June 2013, and wrapped up the last days of August. I'd send some initial beats to Amir via SoundCloud.com, and he'd download them and listen. He'd get some ideas, and send them back. We bounced back and forth, using only emails. Looking back, it's pretty amazing it worked! Amir is such an extremely talented guitarist, he was a huge benefit to me. I couldn't have done nearly as impressive work on my own.

Naturally this recording sounds as no-budget as it is. I worked on it a bit, but eventually decided to let it be and resist the urge to work on it forever. Ideally I'll continue and work on more projects, getting better as I go!

James would like to thank:
my wife, for believing in me more than I believe in myself and enduring all my pursuits in the world of music. You're the best babe! For my daughters and the enjoyment the find in everyday life, and for sharing my love of music. For my mom, for always supporting my endeavors, for helping me buy gear in my youth, and for understanding the artistic drive. Special thanks to Amir for being so awesome to work with and for creating such killer guitar solos.

I thank God always for His blessings, in ability to play music or just to be alive.

Amir would like to thank: my parents.

about

James Wyatt Houston, Texas

I now work alone, puttering with what I have and record to computer. I love writing but have a hard time actually recording. It's a fun process, even if no one really hears these songs.

Track Name: Another Day, Another Daily Grind
Sun up, next day
still asleep but on the way
Claw time, long stay
way too many bills to pay
File in, queue up,
suck the smoke to get your cut
Chug down black cup
dead inside, you play the mutt

Small cube, big pain
Kool-aid drunk you smile the same
Your work, their gain
rank and file no need for name
Fall out, drive home
vow to salvage time your own
Dark crush, gloom zone
thankful prayer comes out a moan

There's no respite
This is your life
Sliced more each day
By the work knife
What's the payoff?
When is halftime?
Daily grind takes... another offering.

Short trip, long time
undue torture could be crime
New car, old grime,
mileage kills before it's prime
News man, short cut,
mobbed by others still get stuck
Snap rod, street rut,
ulcer forming in your gut

Old days, past dream,
ideal life now but a dream
Big plans, failed theme,
trashed to fit within the scheme
Clench wheel, cry mind,
under debts of blood you signed
Each day, remind
growing hatred for mankind

There's no respite
This is your life
Sliced more each day
By the work knife
What's the payoff?
When is halftime?
Daily grind takes... another offering.

Sun up, next day
still asleep but on the way
Claw time, long stay
way too many bills to pay
File in, queue up,
suck the smoke to get your cut
Chug down black cup
dead inside, you play the mutt

Realize too late
it's not the job, but you you hate
You chose cut bait,
when you did you sealed your fate
No more, black lie,
mirror can't see eye to eye
Right now, must try,
else you grind until you die

Grind until you die!
Track Name: Here, Up High... I'm Free!
Look at me, I'm better than the
worker ants, all toiling mindless.
I have left the greedy selfish
sheeple down, and a far behind.
Opened eyes, I'm living now, I
can't recall such blissful moments.
Morbid days seem ages past,
used to drag and suck my life but

What could grant such adulation?
Nothing from the world below me!
No one down there cares to learn me,
so I leave them dying daily.
Born anew among the birds,
traversing worlds known to no others,
I alone will reap the bounty
harvest all the thrilling sun as...

Here... up high...
I'm free, I'm mine

Hard to think how just this morning
I was on my way to bordom.
Marking cents on someone's dollar,
micromanaged, propagandized.
Then at once surprise solution,
missed by others shown unto me,
breaks me from the inside out and
soaring stratospheric, laughing.

Cannot stress my new sensation,
strange at once yet quite familiar.
No agenda, punching time clock.,
here I answer no one ever.
Will not care a second for them,
now so perfectly beneath me.
Will not waste the time it'd take
to slow enough to spit upon them!

Here... up high...
I'm free, I'm mine

I don't miss you! I don't need you!
Want and want, you make me bleed through.
Never gave me, never graved me,
overdrawn, you could have saved me!
Well for once, this table's turned!
Struck down there, it's you who's spurned.
Fight each other, ink out your lives,
pray one day your car arrives.
Will will help you? Who will feed you?
Stroke your egos, false complete you?
Wanna date me? Rather hate me?
Out of range, you cannot bait me!
Paltry lives and nothing chances,
grope for blindly missed romances.
Years and years, endured the grind,
my turn now! It's quitting time!
Track Name: And Now, A Message From The Servants
Hello! We see you've found our flying car!
And we can tell, you have enjoyed yourself so far.
So, we encourage you to hear these words, perhaps,
you've found the answer you want most.

(spoken word)

Come! And join us flying high through every sky,
as we aid to serve and help uplift mankind.
With your car we'll send you 'round the globe,
where you'll find meaning redefine your soul.

(spoken word)

Now it's time for you to make your decision.
Will you fly with us, or drive a normal life?
This is your choice, one you must make alone.
Think wisely, do what's best for the life you own.

Hello! We see you've found our flying car!
And we can tell, you have enjoyed yourself so far.
So, we encourage you to hear these words, perhaps,
you've found the answer you want most.
Track Name: Flying Or Driving?
Thought I found an easy answer, should have known to take a chance I
might win quickly in the front stretch, but that's far from retiring early.
So it seems the strings attached will give me pause enough to test my
willingness to fly out further. Am I free? Or just a server?

Here right now I choose my future, can't act hastily.
There will not be second chances, must think carefully.

I could leave my cube behind and lead a life of flying wonder!
Aiding others, selfless helping, not employees, sisters, brothers!
How would that be any different from the tether in an office?
Bright illusion, bigger cages, off one leash tied to another?

(solos)

Here right now I choose my future, can't act hastily.
There will not be second chances, must think carefully.

All my life I've dreamed of being rich and famous, loving life and
never worried for the future, never dread the coming morning.
Slowly, surely, every day though, I move only further downward.
When did I, the happy, bright child, turn into this destitute soul?

Was this simply random fortune? Or at last has fate forgiven?
Glowing panel, awaiting answer Still observer, neutral party.
Thoughts are rushing, mind sensations, heart rate rising, time elapsing.
Here I'll make my grand decision, living always, consequences!

Here right now I choose my future, must act wisely.
There will not be second chances, so much pressure!

Is there such a ways as perfect? Course of action, pure and flawless?
Will I always seek the daydream? Can I truly find contentment?
